What is Letters From Fairhope?
Letters from Fairhope is an immersive historical 'snail mail' experience set on the shores of Mobile Bay in 1908.
Each month, Clara Riley writes to you from her family’s hotel in Fairhope, Alabama. She shares the small dramas of hotel life, her dreams of becoming an artist, the people who pass through the veranda, and the unexpected romance that begins when a young gentleman arrives from Mobile.
You are not simply reading Clara’s story. You are the trusted friend she has chosen to confide in.
Every letter tells a complete story, so you may begin at any time. Familiar characters and relationships continue to grow, but no previous installment is required.
Each monthly envelope includes:
A beautifully designed letter from Clara
A personal, story-rich letter written in Clara’s voice and inspired by life in coastal Alabama at the beginning of the twentieth century.
An original sketch from her portfolio
Clara is an artist, and her drawings offer another glimpse into her world—hotel guests, flowers, buildings, boats, landscapes, and moments she wants to remember.
Historical keepsakes and paper ephemera
Each mailing may contain pieces such as a hotel postcard, calling card, recipe, menu, ticket, photograph, invitation, newspaper clipping, pressed-flower card, or other artifact connected to that month’s story.
A private audio message from Clara
Scan the enclosed code to hear Clara speak more candidly about the events of her letter, as though the two of you were sharing a quiet conversation on the hotel veranda.
Original background music
Each letter is accompanied by an original instrumental composition created for that month’s story, adding another layer of atmosphere to Clara’s world.
This is a slower kind of storytelling—one meant to be opened carefully, read over a cup of tea, and kept in a ribbon-tied box.
Over time, Clara’s letters become a collection of memories from another era: bay breezes, summer visitors, ink-stained sketches, difficult choices, and a first love unfolding between Fairhope and Mobile.

We ship on the 15th every month. If the 15th is on a Saturday or Sunday, we will ship on the following Monday.
